Jesus Christ Leads and Provides - Honor Him By Sharing the Truth in Love

2 Kings 4:1-7

#Leadership

Jesus called out the religious leaders' hypocrisy straight up. He knew they hated Him because He exposed their evil works (John 7:7). His goal wasn't self-glory or gain, exactly the opposite. He said, “Those who speak for themselves seek their own glory, but he who seeks to honor the one who sent him is a man of truth, there is nothing false about him” (John 7:18). Then He hit them hard: “Moses gave you the law, but none of you keeps it. Why are you trying to kill me?” (John 7:19).

Watch out for skilled truth-twisters. Expose them. Jesus warns about their end: “all liars, their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur” (Revelation 21:8). Plain truth: Tell the truth!

God wants all of you, full commitment, no holding back. And don't worry, He will provide. He never changes. The God who did miracles 3,000 years ago is just as powerful today. He is Creator and Provider. With what you already have, He can multiply it beyond measure.

Look at the widow in 2 Kings 4. She was bankrupt, her husband (a God-fearing prophet) had died, and creditors were coming for her sons as slaves. She told Elisha the honest truth: her husband feared the Lord, she had nothing left but a jar of oil, and she needed help to survive.

God didn't drop money from heaven. He honored her faith and her truthful cry. Elisha asked, “What do you have in the house?” Then: borrow empty jars from neighbors, shut the door, pour. The oil multiplied until every jar was filled. She sold it, paid her debts, and lived on the rest.

Stop waiting for a miracle check in the mail. Ask: What has God already given you? A sharp, creative mind? Carpentry skills? A computer? A single jar of oil, and friends in the community who'll lend you more jars?

It's true: God is repairing relationships, healing the sick, punishing evil, exposing liars and truth-twisters (yes, in the church), and rewarding those who diligently and honestly honor Him, with provision in this life, and far more importantly, with eternal life.

Jesus can and will do spectacular miracles in your life as you honor and follow Him.

In the Middle Ages, it was said that a man gets only one good harvest in his lifetime, and his fortune depends on how he uses or squanders it. But every Saskatchewan farmer knows that's not quite right. Droughts and bumper crops come and go, sometimes yearly. Jesus reminds us that the real issue isn't the ripeness of the harvest, it's the willingness and readiness of the harvesters. Be the man who's ready today. Speak truth. Use what you have. Honor your Creator and Provider.

    Amen.
