 Leadership - Core Values

Every leader must have clear and constant sight on core values.  We see this in King David's yearning to understand and follow God’s way (Psalm 119:1-32).  No matter what stage of your life you are in (embarking on your career, slogging through a tough job, or challenged to keep producing good fruit in later years) I want to remind you that there are great benefits to being a person who cries out to God for understanding and who treasures God’s commands.  For the committed follower of Jesus Christ, the man who is determined to prove God’s critics wrong by what he does, our loving God will grant him wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and a treasure of common sense (Proverbs 2).

The benefit is not just sage understanding for the sake of it, but God benefits us so that we can produce, so that we can advance His Kingdom.  That’s the point.  As we follow and learn from God, He shields us from our adversaries (and there are more than we are aware of in the physical and spiritual realms), and He clears a path for us so we can walk in wise choices, useful pursuits, and clarity of the right way to go.

Our God is loving and good.  Every good and perfect gift comes down from our Father above.  Every good example, every kind and helpful person we encounter, every resource, good health, and our loving church community.  God alone provides for our every need so that we can advance His Kingdom.

Men, let’s look forward and trust the promise of Jesus.  He will return.  And the Spirit of Jesus Christ is with us now.  Despite uncertainties, let’s be humbly confident in Christ.  We have one life to live, and today is a glorious day to make progress.

Yearn for a deeper relationship with Jesus.  Ask Him now for insight and guidance.  God loves to hear from us and to provide for us.  Trust Him.  Seek God first and live following His example (Matthew 6:33).

People may not comment on it, but our values are obvious.  Do we love and serve money, or do we live wholeheartedly to honor and please God?

If what we value at our core is rightly focused on Jesus Christ, we will indeed be conquerors for Christ.  Our values drive our actions and determine the fruit of our pursuits.  The benefit of being a Christian is beyond measure.  It is a benefit the world cannot give, having God’s peace.

Yes, we believe that every word of God proves true (Proverbs 30:5).  Every word.  Do not add to God’s word.  Don’t lie.  Be completely honest today.  And be content with what satisfies our needs.  We have food in the fridge and shoes on our feet.  Good.  Perfect.

Now, may we not deny Jesus by what motivates us and by what we do.  Keep from being proud.  Let’s honor and please God by adhering to Him.  Like crazy glue, let’s stick to what He shows us.  Think of God’s word today as you work and drive and fly and eat.  Hide it in your heart so that we don’t sin against God.

We desire God’s regulations because they are good.  We need God’s word - more than we can imagine.  I’m lost without understanding and guidance from God.  We are prone to self-deception.  Only God’s penetrating precepts can expose our lies and set us straight.  And the good news is that God wants to show us and grant us His wisdom.

Lord Jesus, we choose to be faithful to You alone.  We have decided to live by the law of Jesus Christ.  Help us, Lord Jesus, to keep pursuing You and to never stop.  Please grant us Your peace.  Amen.

Ben, Sol, and Abe Baptism.
