Show-Me Leadership

 Leadership - Show Me Leadership

God shows His children right from wrong.  Why, because we need the constant reminder to fight the daily spiritual battle.  The Bible says, “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.  Let us not become conceited or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another” (Galatians 5:25-26).  Have you ever been conceited, provoked someone, or been jealous of them?  That’s not good, godly leadership.  Instead, godly leaders “let the Holy Spirit guide [our] lives”  (Galatians 5:16).

Missouri is known as the Show-Me State, and Christianity could be referred to as the Show-Me religion.  It is God first in everything.  We need Jesus, above all else.  We can’t lead well without Him.  When we are intentional in our leadership and thinking of ways to love and serve others, it’s because we are led by God.  We are listening to God.

Our families will not have deep love, resilience, goodness, unity, and strength without Jesus.  It’s true.  Our friendships must be grounded in faith in Christ.  That’s the glue.  That’s what binds us.

It is Jesus who must show us how to lead, where to go, what to say, who to pour into, and when to sit and listen, and to understand why it matters.  Show Me leaders have faith expressing itself as love.

Yes, of course, we need leaders with passion.  To lead others well, we must be disciplined and lead ourselves well first.  That is a Christian principle.  First, manage your own household well before you attempt to lead others.  Be very cautious of appointing a leader who has not navigated the straights of raising teenagers.  That process is grueling and good.  Through life’s travails, God shows us how to lead well.

We pattern our lives after Jesus and off of the lives of Holy Spirit-led people.  Be reminded this morning that God has no favorites.  We are all co-workers in Christ (Galatians 2:9).  Passion, enthusiasm, and clear purpose come from the man who wholeheartedly trusts Jesus.

I pray this morning that each of us follow the truth of the Gospel message by how we live.  God shows us the way.  We live by faith in God.  Stop trying to please men.  Stop trying to perform and obey laws and rules that the devil loves to tie you up in.  Instead, use your freedom in Christ to love and serve others well.

Lord Jesus, thank you so much for all Your good gifts.  We humbly ask that You show us today how we can obediently please You with hearts joyfully and gratefully eager to serve others because we belong to You.  Amen.

We took Arch for golf and then ice cream last night. I'm amazed at how loving and kind our grandsons are.
