Titus 1 - A Child of God

Just as we love our children God loves His children.  God’s love is perfect, deep, pure, and faithful.  God wants to spend time with His children every day.

God’s Bible shows us how to live godly lives.  The Bible tells us we have eternal life (1:2).  Sometimes we get down.  We fail and falter.  We very much need to be reminded that each of us is a child of God.  God says, “My child, listen to what I say and treasure my commands” (Proverbs 2:1).  God loves you.  If you trust in Jesus as your Saviour, you are His dearly loved child (Romans 10:9).

Now, if the atheist is right, then nothing really matters at the end of the day.  You just disappear.  Gone.  Dust.  Everything in this wonderful amazing world is all there is - enjoy it - for that’s it.  No new earth and new heaven.  No eternity.  To them, there is no truth.  There is no God.  There is no judgment day where they stand before Jesus.

If I may, they are dead wrong.  They are deceived, trapped in deceit, and they strive to deceive others.  Misery loves company.  Their standard is not the Bible.  It’s not the standard of a godly life.  Why would it be?  Their standard is their appetite - what they can get to eat, and to control, and to put in their bank account.  They are the saddest, loneliest, angriest people.  And they should be - much more than they know.

Pray for God’s grace and mercy over angry atheists.  Pray they hear the truth - God’s message.  The message of reality is that there is an eternity, an afterlife.  And that God’s righteous Son died on the Cross to give us the very ability to turn from evil ways and deeds - so that we may become children of God.

Do not be deceived by rebellious people who lead many away from the truth by their constant secular proselytizing.  They are fools - damned fools.

The Bible says they must be silenced (1:11) - we need courageous people to teach the truth to confront and expose false teachers.  Indeed, one day all of the false teachers will be silenced to eternal shame.

Lord God, please turn the hearts of many.  Help us to be receptive to your message of Truth.  Please spread the Good News of how much you love your children.  Please let the truth of the need to trust God and the mandate to live a blameless and godly life.  We know that you are for us, not against us.  Please show us, clear as day, what matters and how we can love and serve You by loving and helping people today.  Amen.
