2 Corinthians 5:11 - Fearful Responsibility

God doesn’t ignore evil.  He assesses it in the context of His justice.  He expects us to do the same.  Don't ignore the bad things people do, but keep it in context.  Remember how important it is to share God's love with people and to show them how much God loves them.

God brought us back to Himself through Christ.  In this reconciliation, our sins are not counted against us.  They were assessed against Jesus on the Cross.  Paid in full.  We are forgiven and now we are new people, in Christ.  It’s so good to get together, fellowship, and worship God.  We need the constant reminder of how much God loves us and that Jesus was the offering for our sins.  True love.

God wants us.  All of us.  He wants us to come back to Him.  Maybe that’s the message He wants you to hear today.  Turn back to God, He loves you and offers reconciliation and forgiveness.

When we understand what God did for us and what He’s doing for us we then can better grasp the fearful responsibility we have to obey and follow God.  To serve and love others as Jesus commands.  We are Jesus’ students.  His disciples.  May we be men and women who take the responsibility to persuade others about God’s love for them and His way with sincere hearts.

Let us care nothing for bragging.  May we care for what Christ cares for.  Christ died for all people (v.14).  We now believe that we have died to our old way of life and receive new life from God.  We no longer live for ourselves, but we serve others for Jesus' sake.

Live for God.  And evaluate every person as someone God loves and seeks a reconciled relationship with to give them new life.  Look at people as Jesus looks at them, with love, kindness, and forgiveness.  God is Great; and Good.

Please forgive us Lord God for wasting so much time.  Help us to represent you well today in word and deed.  Amen.

Abe (when we lived in Victoria).
