Romans 8:31-39 - How Much Does God Love Us?

So, how much does God love us?  He loves us so much.  He loves you more than your mother loves you.  More than a one-year-old’s adoration for his mom.  More than a young fiance’s love for her man, her groom.  More than a husband’s love for his wife of 60 years - his partner in life, his adventurer, soulmate through good times and hard times.  More than Abraham’s love for God.  More than the love of a fireman who rushes into the burning home - his own house, his wife, and his kids.  God loves us that much and so much more.

Yes, it is hard to believe because we don’t understand the spiritual realm and must trust God’s promise of the future.  The security of a new life, new bodies, and entire inheritance for the children of God.

But we do have the Spirit of Christ living in us.  He shows us, love.  He shows us how He protects and provides for us and guides us to so much that is good.

Never confuse God’s love for us with thinking He approves of wickedness.  The Bible is clear that God approves of godly behavior and condemns the plans of the wicked (Proverbs 12:3).  We must seek to obey God and to be holy.  We must strive to be godly servant leaders.  And we must hold our organizations to godly standards.  We must build our families and our organizations on Jesus Christ.  He alone is the only firm foundation (Matt. 7:24).

Thank God we experience the love and fellowship of our families and Christian brothers and sisters.  I hear such precious things as, “I love you, Grandpa,” from my grandchildren.  We can see the love in the faces of others.  I see it in my children.  I saw it yesterday in the face of my three-year-old grandson, Archer, as he looked at his mom.  God gives us rich relationships, friendships, revelations, and insights.  In this time between now and judgment day, God shows his love to us each day.

Yet it is all just a foretaste - a down payment on our full rights as His children.

You are a born-again child of God.  God loves you so much!  Live humbly in His unbounded, overflowing love for you.  Share that love with others.  Tell others about life, the passion, the peace, and the joy of the gift of righteousness from God.

Paul is right.  Nothing can separate us from Christ’s love for us (v. 35).  God gave his Son for us.  He loves us that much.  No power can separate us from God’s love.

O Lord Jesus.  We thank you for loving us.  We see your love today and trust in a future with You.  Amen.

My Grandson Colton and his mom, Meghan.
